WRATH 014 COVER A SEGOVIA

WRATH OF THE ETERNAL WARRIOR #14 (Valiant Entertainment, December 14 release date)  Writer: Robert Venditti.  Artist: Robert Gill.  Colorist: Mike Spicer. Letterer: Dave Sharpe.  Main cover by Stephen Segovia.

TWRATH 014 003here are so many quality titles available to comics readers these days that it makes it hard to stay current and keep up with all of them. So sadly, it seems like it’s been an eternity since we’ve spent reading time in the world of Gilad Anni-Padda, The Eternal Warrior.  Sadly, because this is the final issue of the series.

It doesn’t seem that long ago that while reading Issue #1 we learned what Gilad does between the time he gets killed and is resurrected  once there is a new assignment or a Geomancer to protect:  he gets to spend time in a distant realm with his extended family.

Issue #14 brings us full cycle, as Gilad completes his mission and returns to his family.  On the final path there is a touching reconciliation between an absentee father and a disgruntled elder son, now approaching adulthood.  But not before they bond together over some blood spilled while venting their wrath on a horde of demon minions. It’s a fitting ending and the final pages have a nice touch of homestead sentiment. It seems sure we’ve not seen the last of the Eternal Warrior.

   BC RATING SYSTEM

STORY:  It’s a respectful send-off that wraps up the four part storyline. However, the summary page provides all the details required to enjoy the final issue without confusion. Nicely done.  1.5 POINTS.

ART: The art is just incredible. You couldn’t ask for a better job on the well-detailed fight scenes than you will see here.  Worth the price of admission. 3 POINTS

COVER: Very representative of the title and the character with good eye appeal.  Just ignore the photo cat variant cover. 1.5 POINTS

WRATH 014 VARIANT BARRIONUEVO

READ AGAIN?  Yes, because of the artwork. Repeated viewings bring additional rewards.  1 POINT.

RECOMMEND? Can’t really do that. It’s the final issue, and we hate to tease.  For those who have read prior issues of this title, they should read the last issue.  ONE-HALF POINT.

TOTAL RATING: 7.5 POINTS. Above average, worth your investment.
